Workshop Held at EVC

workshop was held to disseminate the new curriculum and to teach
the new technologies in the curriculumn
at Evergreen Valley College, San Jose, California from July 11 to 14,
2005. Twenty-nine faculty members from 12 different states

Summary of the Technology Courses
Trimble, AutoDesk, ESRI and Bentley Provided In-Kind Supports to the Project The project has acquired the necessary GPS, CAD and GIS equipment and software with NSF support and industry contributions. Trimble has matched the NSF with in-kind contribution on the acquisition of Trimble 5700 and 5800 series receivers, Trimble Survey Controllers and Trimble Geomatic Office. AutoDesk donated AutoDesk Civil Series CAD software, ESRI donated Arc View GIS software and Bentley contributed to the project with their flagship software Micro Station.

First GPS For Land Surveying Class in S. SF Bay Area Offered at EVC With the support of NSF and Trimble, the first GPS for land surveying class in S. SF Bay area community colleges has been offered at Evergreen Valley College. Class started on Feb. 2, 2004.
Participation in the FaST Program This project participated in the FaST (Faculty and Student Team) Program sponsored by the NSF and DOE at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. The program provides faculty and students involved in undergraduate education an opportunity to conduct research at the national laboratories. Our activities were reported in the Significant Event Report of Engineering Division at LBNL. The research results in a report and a paper presented at Disaster Resistant California Conference 2003 |
