ASSIST is a computerized
student-transfer information system that can be accessed over the World Wide
Web. It displays reports of how course credits earned at one California college
or university can be applied when transferred to another. ASSIST is the official
repository of articulation for Californias colleges and universities and
therefore provides the most accurate and up-to-date information available about
student transfer in California.
- Log on to the ASSIST
web site at http://www.assist.org.
- Follow the step-by-step
instructions on each screen to locate the California colleges or universities
you are considering attending.
- Follow the on-screen
instructions for determining course equivalencies and gathering college transfer
information.
- Print the summary reports
produced from each of your searches. Alternatively, you may copy, paste, save
and print the information in a word processor application.
- Review the information
on your summary reports. Arrange an appointment with your course instructor
or academic advisor to discuss the reports.
Searching other web sites
If you are considering attending
a university outside the University of California or California State University,
or would like additional information about the school you wish to attend, try
conducting an Internet search to find more information about the school:
- Click on the "Search"
button on your web browser to access an Internet search web site. Alternatively,
you may type the address of an Internet search engine of your choosing (e.g.,
http://www.searchenginename.com).
- Use the name of the university
as search keyword (e.g., "Stanford University"). (Hint: Type the
school name within quotation marks for a more precise search.)
- Follow the on-screen
web site links or instructions produced from your search.
- Record the web site address
for each school site you visit.
- Follow the on-screen
directions for gathering information about admission and/or transfer requirements
for each school.
- Advisement: Bookmark
the web page(s) resulting for each search you have conducted. Alternatively,
copy, paste, and save and the information in a word processor application.
Be sure to include the address of each web site in your document.
- Review the information
on your summary reports. Use e-mail communication to discuss your findings
and exchange ideas with your classmates.
- Arrange an appointment
with your course instructor or academic advisor to discuss the reports.
